Forgive a man commenting on this post but my wife wears vintage style clothing, mainly 50’s stuff, and she always looks spectacular. Clothes back then weren’t made in bulk like they are now, they were properly tailored and were made to last. Even most of the repro stuff you can get is better quality than the ‘fast fashion’ crap that is sold so widely nowadays. I wear men’s vintage style outfits too and it’s the same for us. Things were so much better then!!
I used to work at a visitor attraction where the staff had to wear 50’s style uniforms. At first I didn’t like it but then I learned more about the era and I got to love it. We all looked so great in our vintage clothing and it was fun to wear something so different for work. The women looked so stylish in their outfits too. The best thing was when we have special event days and many of the visitors would turn up dressed to the nines. It was quite a spectacle and just like stepping back in time – if you ignored the fact most of us had mobile phones in our hands!!
I used to love the skirts by Lady Vintage, they did full circle skirts in so many cute patterns and I think I probably had all of them! The skirts had pockets too, which was perfect! Sadly they stopped making them many years ago, I have never got over it 🙁
I think vintage fashion is so flattering, when clothes are cut to flatter both male and female figures it looks so much better in my opinion. Vintage clothes are tailored so well, I love circle skirts and even pencil skirts, although I find the former more comfortable so don’t often opt for a pencil skirt style.
